Why we’re building Nurvia

Most plans don’t break on the big decisions. They break in the small jobs between deciding and doing. Here’s what we’re building, and why.

Most plans don’t fall apart because someone made a bad decision. They fall apart in the small work between deciding and doing: the confirmation that never arrived, the pickup time nobody updated, the hotel that was told about a late arrival but never said yes. Nurvia is our answer to that work: an AI logistics platform, with an assistant called Nuri inside it, built around one idea. Everything in place, even when plans change.

The work between deciding and doing

Think about a dinner for eight at Harbor Hall on a Friday night. The decision is easy. The logistics are not. Someone has to confirm the table, check who’s coming from out of town, share the address with the people who need it, and follow up when two guests land an hour late. None of it is hard on its own. Together, it becomes a second job.

The same pattern shows up everywhere we look. An actor with a shoot at Studio North has a call sheet, a pickup, a hotel and a flight home, and any one of them can change overnight. A traveling nurse starting a new assignment has a facility contact, housing dates and a shift schedule arriving from three different people. A crew heading to the Northside buildout needs a check-in point, a gate contact and rooms near the site.

The details live in different places, and they change on different schedules. Someone has to hold the whole picture.

Why separate apps leave the coordination to you

There are good tools for every piece. Airlines have apps. Hotels have apps. There are calendars, messaging, email and shared drives. Each one does its part well. But each one knows about its own piece and nothing else.

So when a flight moves, the airline app shows the new time. It doesn’t know that you now arrive after midnight, that your hotel night starts on the wrong date, or that the driver is still coming at the old time. Connecting those facts is left to you, usually late at night, usually on a phone.

We don’t think the answer is another place to store things. It’s a place where each booking knows what it’s for.

Start with what you’re doing

In Nurvia, you start with the activity: a dinner, a trip, a show, a shoot, a fitting, a shift, a site visit. Then you bring in what belongs to it. Schedules, people, places, documents and travel sit together, so you can see what a change in one does to the others. From there, the work follows four steps.

Nuri is the AI assistant inside Nurvia. Nuri does the parts that take time: reading a confirmation, comparing options, writing to the property, making the call, following up when nobody replies. Because Nuri works inside your activities, it can see what a change touches.

  • Organize. Gather the confirmations, times, contacts and files for the activity in one place.
  • Book. Find and book what the activity needs, like flights and stays, after you’ve seen the price and terms.
  • Monitor. Keep an eye on what could change, such as a departure time or a reply you’re waiting on.
  • Adjust. When something moves, see what it affects, compare options and decide what to do.

What we care about

Assistants are easy to demo and hard to trust. The difference is usually honesty about state. A message that was sent is not a reply. A reply is not a confirmation. A hold is not a booking. A booking reference is not an issued ticket. We keep those states separate, because the gap between them is exactly where plans break.

A few other principles follow from that.

We also know where our role ends. The airline decides on the ticket. The property decides on the late arrival. The facility decides on the shift. The site decides who gets through the gate. Nurvia asks clearly and keeps track of the answer.

  • Room: Confirmed · ref CR-4471
  • Late arrival request: Sent Tue 18:12
  • Property reply: Awaiting reply
  • Late arrival: Not confirmed yet
  • Nuri asks before anything that costs money or changes a booking, and shows the price and terms first.
  • Updates show where they came from, so you can check the source yourself.
  • When you share, you share what each person needs. A driver sees the pickup, not your whole itinerary.
  • When a task is partly done, it says so. Partial is a real state, not a failure to hide.

Why the name

Nurvia comes from two words. Nur is Arabic for light. Via is Latin for passage. That’s the job as we see it: bring some light to what’s happening, and help you find the path through it when something changes.

Nurvia is now in early access. If you coordinate more than you’d like to, we’d love to have you.
